Chapter 23

Nanami Kento continues his intense battle with Mahito, dodging attacks while cursed, deformed humans charge at him like monsters. Mahito uses these transfigured victims without care, turning them into weapons.

In the middle of the fight, Nanami hears one of the creatures cry out:

“Help me…”

For a second, Nanami pauses.

He remembers Shoko Ieiri’s warning
Do not hesitate, even if the curses used to be human.

Nanami regains focus, pushes away his feelings, and prepares to strike.

Mahito casually comments that not all victims die right away when he changes their souls.
He even says “sorry,” like it means nothing.

Nanami responds coldly:
“I don’t mix emotions with my job.”

But Mahito laughs.
He sees through Nanami’s calm face and knows the truth
Nanami still cares, even if he won’t admit it.
