Chapter 9
Megumi Fushiguro stood face-to-face with Sukuna, who was still controlling Yuji Itadori’s body. The air felt heavy, and every part of Megumi’s mind told him to run. But he didn’t move.
He refused to back down.
Sukuna grinned, amused by Megumi’s courage.
“What’s this? You think you can stop me?” he asked, mocking him.
Megumi didn’t answer right away.
Instead, he thought about something important something he had learned long before becoming a sorcerer.
Life is unfair.
To everyone.
Some people suffer for no reason. Some people lose things they never deserved to lose.
But even in an unfair world, people could still choose to fight.
Megumi looked at Sukuna with steady eyes.
He believed Yuji would come back.
He believed Yuji’s will was stronger than the curse trying to control him.
Even if the situation felt hopeless, he refused to give up on his friend.
“You won’t keep his body forever,” Megumi said quietly.
“He’ll return.”
Sukuna laughed, sharp and cruel.
He remembered Yuji’s thoughts before Megumi had sent the signal the fear, the doubt, the confusion. Yuji had been overwhelmed, unsure if he could save anyone.
“Your faith in him is cute,” Sukuna mocked.
“He’s weaker than you think.”
Megumi stepped forward anyway, ready to fight even if he was outmatched.
His heart pounded, but his resolve stayed firm.
He wasn’t fighting because he thought he could win.
He was fighting because Yuji was his friend.
And he trusted Yuji to fight his way back even from inside Sukuna’s darkness.
